Corinthia Hotel London announces collaboration with Sager + Wilde bartender Marcis Dzelzainis at Bassoon Bar

Corinthia Hotel London is partnering with Marcis Dzelzainis and Michael Sager from award-winning East London restaurant and wine bar Sager + Wilde. The collaboration will launch with pioneering bartender Marcis Dzelzainis managing the Bassoon Bar with the introduction of a new cocktail menu and a team spearheaded by Head Bartender, Joshua Joyce, previously of Satan’s Whiskers and the Beaufort Bar at The Savoy. 

Dzelzainis’ drinks are inspired by New Orleans classics, but reimagined using modern day knowledge and techniques. The list will be complemented by a Champagne list from fellow business partner Michael Sager and a revised music programme by Simon Eltringham of The Sonic Emporium, continuing the Bassoon Bar’s long withstanding connection to music. Funk and Soul will play throughout the evenings, keeping the bar’s iconic piano shape, but adding in classic DJ decks. Marking a new chapter for the hotel, the collaboration has developed due to a long friendship between Marcis and Food & Beverage Director Benjamin Hofer, who met during Marcis’ tenure at Satan’s Whiskers in Bethnal Green.

Marcis, whose signature style features stripped back serves that focus on balance and flavour, has perfected the drinkslist over a number of months, ready to launch this summer.Bringing respectful innovation and pared down drinks to the elegance of the five-star Corinthia Hotel London, the menu will introduce a playful, independent spirit to one of the most prestigious hotel bars in London.

The collaboration will develop throughout the year, with Sager implementing a new wine menu for The Northall Bar and the Hotel’s restaurants.
