With the objective to maintain public order during the simultaneous presidential and legislative elections to be held on 17 th April, a ban was imposed on the alcoholic beverage sales in Mimika Regency in Papua, on 10 th April. Here it deserves a mention that Mimika Regency is one of the regencies in the Papua province of Indonesia.
Willem Naa, the Head of the Mimika Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) said that vendors of alcoholic beverages in the region were expected by him to follow the newly passed regulation. He also informed that the ban on alcohol sales in Mimika was also placed in respect of Easter celebrations, which commenced across the regency on 14 th April.
