Sai Hamsala, Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador, Diplomático Rum, tells Shalini Kumar that winning the Global Championship for Diplomático Rum has definitely changed his life and being the Brand Ambassador has opened many doors to showcase his skills and creativity.
Hamsala studied Mechanical Engineering for a while but found that it did not interest him. He moved to New Zealand when he was 19 to study hospitality and business management. He soon started working part time in a bar and there the cocktail scene fascinated him. That set the ball rolling... As Asia-Pacific Brand Ambassador of Diplomático Rum, he feels on top of the world. “Winning the Global Championship for Diplomático Rum has definitely changed my life. Being the Brand Ambassador has opened many doors to showcase my skills and creativity,” he acknowledges. He also gets to travel the world, meet new people, holding master classes, creating cocktails, attending workshops, being innovative, and experiencing different cultures. Sai Hamsala says he enjoys meeting new people and delivering exceptional customer service. “There is immense potential to develop yourself in the hospitality business,” he reveals. On how is Diplomático Rum perceived in the Asia-Pacific region, he says that all regions have their different opportunities and challenges. “Most consumers fall in love with Diplomático once they try it. At the moment, the highest growth opportunity for us is in Australia, Japan and China,” he affirms.
