Molson Coors, which is one of the leading lager makers of North America, has agreed to sell its India-based operations to Singapore-based Inbrew Holdings.

Inbrew Holdings will acquire three manufacturing facilities with a total installed capacity of 16 million unit cases in India.

The deal between the two would enable Inbrew to acquire Indian beer brand of Molson Coors -Thunderbolt, and having selling and distribution rights of  Molson Coors' global brands such as Miller, Blue Moon, Carling and Cobra, in India.

Molson Coors entered India's alcobev market in 2011 with a joint venture between Molson Coors Brewing Company and Cobra Indian Beer,  led by the Founder of  Cobra Beer, Lord Karan Bilimoria. At one time, Molson Coors enjoyed 50 percent market share in Bihar’s beer market. However, the ban on sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in Bihar in 2016 threw a spanner in its work.
