Dubai suspends tax on alcobev

In a surprise move, Dubai has removed 30 percent municipality tax on all alcoholic beverages and on the personal liquor licence fee.

The decision has come into force from 1st January 2023. Personal liquor licences are eligible to purchase alcobev of their choice in Dubai. However, a valid Emirates ID or passport for tourists is still required to apply for personal liquor licences.

Also as per the applicable norms, a person must be at least 21 years of age to drink legally in the UAE and alcobev can only be consumed privately there or in licensed designated places.
