Spiritz 2019- Join the pledge

The 6th edition of Spiritz Achievers Awards 2019 saw a large number of people signing the pledge under Diageo’s ‘Join The Pact’ (JTP) campaign of never drink and drive. Spiritz joined hands with Diageo’s global mission to reduce accidents and injuries caused by driving after having alcoholic beverage. The idea was to bring about behavioural change through road safety awareness campaigns and by signing a pledge.

A dedicated team was stationed at the welcome gate of the Spiritz ThinkPad & Achievers Awards 2019 who drew attention of guests to Join The Pact campaign. They encouraged (and guided) the guests to use their smart phone to sign the pledge through QR code. A pledge LED pillar and a selfie LED pillar were put up at the entrance for signing the pledge and taking the selfie. Even after the event, Spiritz kept sending e-mails to its data base to make people aware about the JTP and bringing them on board as signees.

At the awards ceremony, Sangeeta Thakral, Head, CSR and Sustainability (Diageo in Society), Diageo India, was invited to come on the stage to pick up three winners from the signees of the JTP through a draw of lot. Each winner received a gift hamper from Diageo.

Join the pledge

An overwhelming 3465 people signed the JTP on the day of the event and through e-mail campaign.

Diageo started the #JoinThePact campaign in 2008 as part of its efforts to tackle drink driving around the world.

Since the launch, the campaign, which is supported by Johnnie Walker’s sponsorship of Formula 1 partnerships and fronted by two times Formula 1 world champion, Mika Häkkinen, has been activated in over forty countries, across five continents.

Diageo has secured over 20 million pledges of ‘never drink and drive’ through its global drink driving prevention programme #JoinThePact. In a bid to reduce drink driving globally, Diageo has an ambition to collect 50 million pledges to never drink and drive by 2025; and Spiritz will keep supporting this Diageo’s noble endeavour always.
