Irish whiskey finished in ginger beer casks

Teeling Distillery based in Dublin, Ireland, and London-based Umbrella Brewing have partnered to come up with an Irish whiskey finished in ginger beer casks. In fact, this recent collaboration led to the creation of Umbrella London Ginger Beer finished Teeling Whiskey, and Teeling Whiskey finished Umbrella London Ginger Beer.

Casks of ginger beer from Umbrella Brewing were hand selected by the Teeling’s Master Distiller Alex Chasko to develop the Irish whiskey. The Umbrella London Ginger Beer finished Teeling Whiskey exudes flavours of ginger, rich molasses and subtle hints of malt, and a finish with a hint of lasting spice. It is endowed with 46 percent ABV and is non-chill-filtered.

The whiskey-finished ginger beer is the product of resting 500 litres of ginger beer in two former Bourbon hogshead barrels from Teeling, for two years. Only after that the liquid was carbonated and canned.

Umbrella London Ginger Beer finished Teeling Whiskey is priced at RRP of 58 USD while the Teeling Whiskey finished Umbrella London Ginger Beer has a RRP of 39 USD for an eight-pack of 330ml bottles. A pack of 24 of this whiskey finished ginger beer comes for 110 USD.
