UP eyes revenue growth through alcohol

In the last five years, 19 distilleries were set up in UP with an investment of Rs. 5,000 crore, enhancing the state’s alcohol production capacity from 170 crore litres to 282 crore bulk litres. These investments are made by international and national giants like Pernod Ricard, Diageo, William Grant & Sons, ABD, and Alcobrew. 

As many as 18 new companies have invested in distillery plants in Uttar Pradesh and three of them have even begun production while another 15 of them have been granted permission to set up distilleries. Three others have proposed to invest in setting up distillery plants, officials said

 According to the state government, the distillery business in the state has increased to more than Rs. 1.80 lakh crore s and is likely to play big role in achieving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of making the state a 1 trillion dollar economy.
