Indian cigar importers and distributors working with Dominican brands - Alliance Global, Cingari, India Cigar Club, Kastro's, NV lifestyles and the Smoke Company – also partnered in the event to present cigar aficionados with a variety of Dominican cigars. Brands like Cezar Bronner Cigars, DBL Cigars, El Artista, El Sueño, La Aurora and Macanudo, amongst others, were part of the showcase of cigar brands. A menu of cigar and rum pairings was designed especially for the occasion.

Dominican cigars and rums are Dominican Republic's flagship products representing the country’s culture and traditions. “The idea behind these products is to draw attention not only to the country as a tourist destination but also to business and investment opportunities,” Dominican Ambassador, David Puig said in a statement.

For this occasion, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic joined hands with Barceló rum, a historical Dominican brand known worldwide for its high-quality dark rums. Barceló is sold in over 50 countries and is now available in the Indian market.

The event promoted Barceló rum, which was founded in 1930 .“The strategy of Barceló rum,” the Dominican Ambassador said, “is to sell its premium products here in India and position itself in a market with high purchasing power, with members who want to try new things.”

Regarding cigars, the Ambassador emphasised that while the Dominican Republic “is the world’s leading cigar producer,” in India, Cuba controls 95 percent of the cigar market. He called for necessitating a change in strategy.

One of the event’s highlights was the presence of the Dominican cigar roller, Moisés Rodriguez, owner of La Realeza Cigars, who delighted guests with his cigar-rolling skills. Throughout the night, the Delhi-based Latin band Abakorao played classic Dominican songs.
