Goa liquor traders object to wine shop license at Mopa airport

The Goa Liquor Traders Association has objected to the Goa government allegedly approving a corporate company from Mumbai for a wine shop licence at the Manohar International Airport in Mopa.

According to the association's President, Dattaprasad Naik, after meeting with the Excise Commissioner of Goa they learned of the state government's move to publish a notification through modifying rules to allow wine shops on the airport grounds.

He claimed that the coastal state has 800 bars and restaurants and 3,076 wine outlets and a person can only be granted a wine shop licence if there is proof that he/she has lived in Goa for the last 25 years.
