The excise department of Goa has reported a 36 percent increase in revenue from the sale of foreign spirits in the 2022-2023 fiscal, despite claims from spirits traders operating in Goa that they were losing business because foreign liquor was more expensive in Goa than in some states in northern India. Additionally, there was an increase in the overall revenues in Goa during the 2022-23 fiscal, with the state government receiving Rs.865.6 crore
