Maharashtra’s excise revenue increases impressively

Maharshtra’s Excise Minister, Shambhuraj Desai informed that the state’s excise dept generated good revenue this year. He has also pointed out that many amendments in implementation played a big role to generate more revenue this year as compared to the previous one.

According to Desai, the excise department of Maharashtra has collected Rs.21550 crore revenue this year, which is 25 percent more than the previous fiscal. The excise department is the third largest revenue generating account in the state.

Desai has also intimated that if the public requests the government may be willing to cut back on the number of dry days on which the sale of alcohol is prohibited in Maharashtra.
