Delhi's retail liquor trade has seen a dramatic fall in comparison to the first quarter (April-June) of 2022, when the now-scrapped excise policy of the city government was in place.
In contrast to the first quarter rise of 263 percent in the April-June quarter of 2022, the final two quarters of 2022-23 i.e. October-December and January-March, showed a dramatic fall of 19 percent and 14 percent respectively.
However, according to the Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) report, Delhi has maintained a respectable annual growth rate of 36 percent year over year despite all the alterations to excise policy and the absence of several brands.
