Delhi’s collection of excise revenue in Q1

According to official figures, the excise department of Delhi has collected around Rs.1,700 crore in excise duty and value-added tax during the first quarter of 2023-24.

Around 62 crore bottles of alcohol were sold during the 2022-23 fiscal year, bringing approximately Rs 6,821 crore. The total includes Rs 1,272.52 crore in value-added tax and Rs 5,548.48 crore in excise duty.

The Excise Department is hoping for an increase in its revenue as more liquor stores are set to open in the coming months.
