The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has lodged a case of cheating and criminal conspiracy with the Uttar Pradesh's Special Task Force (STF) against senior officials, including a special secretary and commissioner, from the Chhattisgarh excise department, along with a Noida-based firm, regarding an alleged liquor scam.
As per the FIR, the Chhattisgarh excise department allegedly awarded an unlawful contract to a Noida-based business to supply holograms. The ED uncovered that these holograms were produced at a factory in Noida and subsequently transported to Chhattisgarh under the direction of certain liquor syndicate leaders.
The FIR further reveals that the syndicate granted the Noida-based company a contract to provide 80 crore holograms over five years at a significantly inflated price. In exchange, the company was expected to deliver duplicate holograms as per demand. During a search operation in 2021, the ED discovered duplicate holograms at the company's Noida facility, and subsequent statements confirmed the delivery of these fraudulent items.
