Highest registration of spirits brands in UP

In the current fiscal year, Uttar Pradesh has witnessed 3,854 spirits brands being registered in the state, which is the highest number of spirits brands registered so far in the state in a given fiscal year.

According to a government official, 3,106 different alcoholic products were registered in the previous fiscal year, in UP.

As foreign spirits companies continue to enter the retail market of UP, local premium spirits brands are under fierce competition in the state.

In Uttar Pradesh, there are now 573 imported foreign spirits brands (comprising whisky, vodka, rum and gin) as opposed to 199 in the previous financial year. In a year, the number of imported wines and beers in UP has increased from 305 to 445 and from 34 to 41, respectively.
