By selling off 162 liquor zones at auction in Gurugram —79 in East Gurugram and 83 in West Gurugram — generated the most revenue of Rs. 1,635 crore out of the 22 excise districts in the state.

Ashok Meena, the Commissioner of Excise and Taxation for Haryana, when asked about the achievement, responded by saying, "The state has one of the biggest growths in licence fee.
