Delhi government notches its revenues

The Delhi government has earned more than Rs 7,285 crore by selling over 61 crore bottles of liquor under the current excise policy which came into being on 1st September 2022.

As per a report, out of this excise revenue collection during 1st September 2022-31st August 2023, Rs 2,013.44 crore was collected as value-added tax (VAT).

In comparison, the revenue for the previous excise policy, which was withdrawn by the Delhi government last year following Lieutenant Governor (LG) VK Saxena’s recommendation of a CBI probe into alleged irregularities in its implementation, was only Rs. 5,487.58 crore.
