Bengaluru bars & pubs serving alcohol to minors booked

Recently Central Crime Branch (CCB) personnel did carry out raids on many hotels, pubs, bars and restaurants in Bengaluru and found many minors having alcohol and engaged in smoking. A total of 390 cases were slapped against those establishments in Bengaluru where minors were found drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking through the raids.

These raids were induced by a complaint from a school management that many of their students were regularly visiting pubs to drink and smoke. The school management requested the city police to take preventive measures.

More than 700 hospitality establishments in Bengaluru were checked and many of them were found to be selling minors alcohol and tobacco products. Three cases have been registered under Juvenile Justice Act, 9 cases under Karnataka Excise Act, 1967 and 494 cases under Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 have been registered.
