Meghalaya to advance fruit wine sector

Conrad K. Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, has announced to promote the indigenous fruit winemakers in the state. He made that announcement while launching the North East Wine Incubation Centre at Mawdiangdiang, on the outskirts of the state's capital Shillong, where he pledged support for the fruit wine industry of the north-eastern state.

This strategy has been developed by the coalition government of the state in order to encourage the growth of a vibrant ecosystem that connects tourism, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and employment generation.

The Chief Minister also said that the wine incubation hub would give ambitious business owners a place to test and use equipment, fostering innovation and fostering economic growth through winemaking.

Additionally, he has assured the stakeholders that the licensing fees for winemakers in the state would be nominal. The Meghalaya government is working on streamlining the registration process to facilitate ease of access for local winemakers.
