Canada’s allegations will not impact India-UK trade talks

The UK government had stated that its ongoing trade negotiations with India will not be affected by Canada government's "serious allegations" over the murder of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada.

Since last year, India and the UK have been negotiating a free trade agreement. "Work on the trade negotiations will continue as before,” the UK PM’s spokesperson told reporters. This trade pact has the potential to improve the alcobev business of both the countries.

Canada’s government has alleged Indian government’s involvement in the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the former Chief of Khalistan Tiger Force, who was a designated terrorist in British Columbia, in June of this year. India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has strongly rejected the allegations as “absurd and motivated.”
