Jharkhand to bring more transparency in retail liquor business

Jharkhand's Excise and Prohibition Department's Secretary, Vinay Choubey has instructed to install CCTV cameras in retail liquor shops in the state, so that the sale of liquor in the shops can be tracked and monitored. It has been asked to swiftly finish the required process.

Furthermore, the placement agency was asked to strictly ensure the timely payment of honorarium to liquor shop employees in the state so as to reduce the possibility of employees engaging in irregular behaviour. The prohibition of selling alcohol for more than MRP was mandated. The Departmental Secretary issued stern instructions, asking that under no circumstances more than the fixed rate for liquors in the state be charged. For this price-related display boards were asked to be installed outside the retail liquor stores in Jharkhand.

It was also instructed that retail selling of alcoholic beverages must be followed while adhering to the track and trace system. Supplying alcoholic beverages in accordance with demand, and penalising agency/ies responsible for collecting money from liquor retail stores for laxity were also called for.
