In its act of cracking down on restaurants and cafes in the capital who are hosting functions on P-10 liquor permits, Delhi excise department has directed its four corporations from not issuing the P-10 permit to around 5,000 independent food service establishments. These places include the food court in Delhi Airport, T3, and IRCTC Maharaja Express train among others. P-10 permits are meant for small, private parties.
These establishments, despite being eligible for excise license, are accused of getting the cheaper P-10 permit licence, which helps them do away with additional excise duty. P-10 permit licence in Delhi is issued for private parties such as a wedding or an engagement.
