Before the coming into force of the general election code in the next year, Chandigarh’s administration invited suggestions from stakeholders for the launch of a new excise policy for the financial year 2024-2025. In the current financial year, the excise department of Chandigarh suffered a loss of nearly Rs 150 crore after 18 of its liquor vends went unsold despite many e-auctions in the past nine months.
In the current fiscal, out of a total of 95 liquor vends in Chandigarh, 18 went unsold, following which the department increased the liquor quota of existing liquor vends for the remaining months.
