GIFT City liquor exemption challenged

Industry leaders praised the Gujarat government's decision to allow liquor in GIFT City and termed it a progressive and bold step that will attract new global and domestic investment to the City.

Director General of Confederation of Indian Alcoholic Beverage Companies (CIABC) Vinod Giri lauded the move and said that it will not only give a major boost to the hospitality sector within GIFT City but also attract major companies and quality workforce from across the globe.

In near future, the state government will organise a Global Fintech Leadership Forum at GIFT City as part of VGGS 2024 where tech leaders from across the world are expected to participate early next month. As per reports, PM Modi will interact with the CEOs of top fintech institutions in a closed-door roundtable to be held at GIFT City on January 10.

Under the new model, hotels, restaurants and in GIFT City will be given licence for wine and dine facilities, but they will not be allowed to sell liquor bottles to people.
