Gujarat issues more liquor permits in FY 2023 By Spiritz Desk 02 Mar 2024 in Alert New Update Gujarat issued and renewed more than 24.8 percent liquor licences in the fiscal year 2022-23 from its previous fiscal. The state government data revealed that 39,888 people in the state hold liquor consumption permits as of 31st December 2023. According to data provided by the state government in response to a query in the recent assembly session, 13,985 liquor permits were renewed or issued between 1st April 2021 and 31st March 2022. However, between 1st April 2022 and 31st March 2023, this figure was 17,461, reflecting a 24.8 percent increase. As per the report, in the 2020-21 financial year, Gujarat received Rs 11.92 crore revenue from permit fees. In the 2022-23 fiscal, state revenue grew to Rs 12.69 crore in 2022-23. As of 31st December 2023, Ahmedabad district had the most liquor permit holders and Dang district with one licence holder had the lowest number of permit holders in the state.
