Automation is the name of the game

Innovation and product design have been the guiding principles, says Saranjeet Singh Anand, Managing Director, Rattan Brautechnik.

Rattan Brautechnik has been a successful family business with a strong manufacturing profile. Present in the market since early 1940s, the company has been shaped by dramatic events like prohibition and its subsequent repeal. The company was also impacted by the perils of India’s partition. Yet, they have been able to tide over such crises with their stoic approach. Saranjeet Singh Anand, Managing Director, Rattan Brautechnik, puts things in perspective, when he says: “We have always adapted to change and welcome the challenge and opportunities it offers. Rattan Brautechnic has an automated brewery system. It is a one-stop shop for microbrewery systems. Saranjeet explains that the automated brewery system has perpetually been a combination of client requirements. “The principle here is the bigger the brewery, the higher the level of automation. Our control is based on the Siemens’s programmable logic controller and guarantees extremely simple operations. This is controlled via a touch screen,” he elaborates. The system also includes necessary sensors, a manual emergency operating level and software/hardware for remote maintenance plus the option of control via a tablet, PC or smartphone.

Continued Growth

Under the stewardship of Saranjeet & Gurdeep Singh Anand, who are fourth generation entrepreneurs in the family business, ‘Rattan’ has enjoyed continued growth since 1992. Today, it is recognised as a major supplier of vessels and processing equipment to distilleries, brewing, bottling plant, food, and other industries. The company has also retained its long-held position as the premier equipment supplier. It also boasts of a self-sufficient R&D facility with a tool room setup to develop newer products as per customer’s specific requirements. Some of the company’s unique products include a Fermentation & Storage Tank. The tank is created out of stainless steel and is insulated with polyurethane insulation material. The fermentation tank is given mark jackets to permit even cooling of the fermentation brew. They also have an automated brew system which uses a powerful yet simple operator interface. Other key features include pressure tanks and dispensing equipment. Saranjeet says, “as we move deeper into the 21st century, we will continue to use new materials, improved technology and the most practical production processes. We will continue to expand our horizons.”
