At Spiritz, it has been our consistent endeavour to give you exclusive inside stories from the diverse and exciting world of alcoholic beverages. Beginning this issue, we feature a monthly column on rare wines by the renowned certified sommelier Kriti Malhotra.

For those of us who are world travellers and wine lovers both, are often seen searching to find a rare or uncommon taste character in their choice of wines. If this is the case with you, rare wines are your bus-stop then. But just because they are uncommon or rare doesn’t mean they are extremely expensive. However, rare wines are often the product of rare grapes. One such  grape I came across sometime back was from an Italian island called Sardinia (in local dialect it is called Sardegna). Sardinia is about 250 km away from mainland Italy from the west coast and is one of the two major islands of Italy, the other being Sicily.
