Keeping in mind the well-being of communities in this crucial time, Diageo India is determined to support the alco-beverage trade; especially the bartenders.

The company has pledged to support with Rs 30 million health insurance cover for bartenders associated with the Diageo World Class programme in India. Additionally, the company will also support continued learning and skill building for the bartenders during this lean period, through complimentary access to virtual training and online learning through providing access to the Diageo Bar Academy Training Course.

Anand Kripalu, Managing Director and CEO, Diageo India said “We stand united with the government and citizens of our country in the fight against the Coronavirus. We also want to support our partners in the hospitality industry, especially bartenders who are facing unprecedented challenges due to closure of restaurants and bars.”

Giving priority to the safety of the community, the much sought-after global event ‘Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year’ has been postponed to 2021. The event was born from the desire to support, educate and inspire the bartending community and even in these most challenging of circumstances the company remains committed to those values.

Diageo India has also produced around 300,000 litres of bulk hand sanitiser across 15 manufacturing units for use by public healthcare workers. The company donated 500,000 litres ENA to the sanitiser industry to enable the production of more than two million units (250 ml each) of hand sanitisers and pledged to donate approximately 150,000 masks to five state’s public health departments.
