Antique Collection of Whiskies by Buffalo Trace By Spiritz Desk 12 Sep 2020 in Latest News New Update Buffalo Trace Distillery has launched the five limited edition whiskies. The highly regarded collection will once again feature five limited-release whiskies of various ages, recipes and proofs. First launched in 2000, the Antique Collection features include George T Stagg release, which is bottled at 65.2 percent ABV and is said to have flavours of “creamy vanilla with lightly smoked oak on the palate”. Made using Bourbon from barrels filled in the spring of 2005. The 2020 William Larue Weller bottling is uncut, unfiltered, heated Bourbon, bottled at 67.25 percent ABV. The whisky was distilled in the winter of 2008 and boasts flavours of a soft caramel chew, spearmint and cinnamon. Thomas H Handy Sazerac Rye whisky is uncut and unfiltered, and comprises spirit distilled in the spring of 2014.The 64.5 percent ABV whisky offers notes of cinnamon, anise and honey. The latest Eagle Rare 17 Year Old release is bottled at 50.5 percent ABV and was distilled in the spring of 2002. The limited edition release has a nose of ripe cherries, vanilla cream and oak, followed by a taste of caramel and coffee and a long finish of oak, pepper and fresh herbs. And, the 2020 Sazerac Rye 18 Year Old bottling has flavours of oak, caramel and dark chocolate, with a finish of coffee, black pepper and cherries. The barrels for this whisky were filled in the spring of 2002. It is bottled at 45 percent ABV. The 2020 Buffalo Trace Antique Collection whiskies will be available in limited quantities starting in late September or early October. Suggested retail price is $99 each bottle.
