Green wine range from Borough Wines

New Update

London-based Borough Wines has launched a ‘zero waste’ wine range for on and off-trade.  The range includes 25 sustainable wines from small, independent producers around the world. Many of them are biodynamic and vegan. The wines are presented in three formats, which are return bottle, Vinotap and refill kegs.

Directly from the vineyards, the return bottle wines are shipped in bulk to Borough Wines. They are then bottled at its bottling and kegging facility in London, and presented to customers in recycled plastic crates.

The wine range is also available in refill kegs, with each keg having the capacity to hold 25 litres of wine or equivalent of 33.3 bottles of wine. Each of this keg is collected and reused by Borough Wines, thereby saving disposal of 16 kg of glass.

Vinotap format comes with a tap dispensing system. The vessel is collected, cleaned and refilled after it is empty, thereby enabling restaurants and bars to minimise wastage of wine.

The environment-friendliness of these wines extends to their labels too, which are made from bagasse. Bagasse is a by-product of the extraction of juice from sugarcane, which is biodegradable.
