A 26-year-old Macallan Scotch whisky has been added by Douglas Laing Co. to its XOP The Black Series. Last year, Douglas Laing & Co launched its XOP The Black Series with the release of a 1994 Springbank whisky.

The name of the 26-year-old Macallan Scotch whisky is Douglas Laing & Co XOP The Black Series Macallan Vintage 1993. The whisky, which was distilled in November 1993 at the Macallan distillery in Speyside, was matured for 26 years in an ex-refill butt.

The whisky has been bottled at cask strength of 56.4 percent ABV. Only 244 bottles of the premium liquid have been released. The whisky is said to have “a remarkably warm, amber colour, and a flavour profile encompassing dried fruits, milk chocolate and honeyed barley”.

Each bottle of Douglas Laing & Co XOP The Black Series Macallan Vintage 1993 has been filled by hand and is characterised by a glass stopper and embossed metal label with the signatures of Douglas Laing & Co’s Chairman Fred Laing and of former Bruichladdich’s distiller Jim McEwan.

The whisky is available throughout Europe and Asia at an expected retail price of 2,700USD per 700ml bottle.
