Suntory Whisky Toki launched in India

Beam Suntory has launched a new whisky called Suntory Whisky Toki in India.

The whisky is being made by bringing the grain component of  blend from the Chita distillery, where the heavy-type grain whisky is distilled only twice on column stills, and is vanilla-rich with a sweet undertone in its unblended state. Shinji-san sourced the malt component from the Hakushu distillery, which produces light, fruity malt similar to many Speyside distilleries.

The House of Suntory’s fourth Chief Blender, Shinji Fukuyo has created Suntory Whisky Toki. Toki in Japanese means ‘time’, a concept that is deeply-woven into the Japanese way of life.

The unique pairing of Hakushu American White Oak Cask malt whisky with Chita heavy-type grain whisky overturns the traditional hierarchy between malt and grain. These seemingly dissimilar but deeply accordant whiskies together with select Yamazaki malts for additional depth and complexity give rise to the exquisite, silky taste, distinctive character and bold innovation of the blended Suntory Whisky Toki.

The luminous sunlight gold blend creates a symphony of flavours. To the nose, the blend comes across as fresh and light with a fruity aroma derived from green apple; a soothing touch of honey, wrapped in pleasant basil.

On the palate, the blend of this whisky is gentle with notes of grapefruit and green grapes, leading to an interlude of peppermint and thyme. The blend has a subtly sweet and spicy finish with a hint of vanilla oak, white pepper and ginger. With notes of honey on the nose, similar to that of in Chita, citrus notes of Hakushu that plays on the palate and the subtle yet warm finish of Yamazaki, Suntory Whisky Toki comes across as a truly singular blend.

The versatility of Suntory Whisky Toki arises from its smoothness. Suntory Whisky Toki is an ideal liquid for Japanese highballs. The Toki Highball may be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, as a highball or concocted into a cocktail. The Toki Highball is a carefully crafted cocktail with minute attention to detail, creating a harmony of Toki’s vivid blend with carbonated water on the rocks. What emerges is a perfectly balanced, refreshing drink that champions the delicate sweetness enhanced by the aromatic notes of Toki.
