Former banker with spirits

A former banker named Kasturi Banerjee, who did set up Stilldistilling Spirits in Goa some two years earlier, has come up with Maka Zai rum in the recent past.

The brand comes in two variants –White and Gold – and they are priced at Rs.1000 and Rs.1300 respectively in Goa. The spirit is blended and bottled in Goa only though the molasses for Maka Zai rum is derived from northern and western India.

According to Kasturi, the White version is medium bodied, vibrant and refreshing whereas the Gold version is creamier of the two and is slightly fruity. The Gold version comprises rum blended for two and a half years.
