Liquor vends flouting rules to attract crackdown in Haryana

The excise department of Haryana is thinking of cracking down on bars, restaurants, clubs and other businesses in Haryana, which have been serving alcoholic beverages without the requisite liquor license.

Around 20 such facilities in Gurugram's Sector 29, Golf Course Extension Road, and Golf Course Road have been found by officials to be open for extended periods of time without a requisite license.

According to the rules, an establishment owner must apply for L4 and L5 licences in Haryana, in order to receive a liquor licence. A yearly fee of Rs. 20 lakh is necessary if the proprietor intends to keep the pub or bar open in the state until 2am. An additional Rs. 18 lakh annually is needed if the establishment selling liquor wants to operate until 8 am in the state.
