Loch Lomond releases final whisky in its Remarkable Stills series

Loch Lomond 47 Years Old has been introduced by Loch Lomond Whiskies as the final release in its Remarkable Stills series. It joins Loch Lomond 45 Years Old and Loch Lomond 46 Years Old to complete the range.

Loch Lomond 47 Years Old is limited to 200 bottles globally and is one of the oldest and rarest releases of Loch Lomond Whiskies as yet. The Remarkable Stills Series is inspired by Loch Lomond Whiskies’ unique Straight Neck pot stills.

First distilled in 1974, the whisky began its journey in refill American Oak casks. It is the product of maturation on the banks of Loch Lomond for 43 years before finishing in 2nd fill Oloroso Sherry casks, which adds additional dried, tropical fruit notes to compliment the distillery’s notable style, characterised by orchard fruit.

Like its predecessors, Loch Lomond 47 Years Old is an unpeated whisky. On the nose it conveys toffee, orange and green apple with floral notes of rose, followed by sultanas, cinnamon and nutmeg. The palate opens with a velvety mouthfeel; hints of caramel and vanilla are met with crisp green apple; melon and kiwi fruit complement floral notes of elderflower. The finish is long, initially sweet flavours of melted brown sugar followed by mouth-watering lime citrus and gently warming cinnamon spice.

Loch Lomond 47 Years Old is bottled at 44.3 percent ABV and has an RRP of £5,750 (US$7,166). It is natural in colour and is presented in a beautifully hand-crafted oak box with a copper centre, inspired by the stills themselves.
