Jagatjit Industries to set up grain-based ethanol plant in Punjab

Jagatjit Industries Ltd. has envisaged to invest Rs. 210 crore in the construction of a grain-based ethanol manufacturing plant in Punjab in order to meet the growing demand for this green fuel for blending with petrol.

The investment will be financed through internal accruals and bank loans. A licence from the Ministry of Forest and Environment has already been granted to the company for the construction of the ethanol production facility, which will be located across 25 acres of land. From June 2024, the facility is anticipated to be in operation.

According to Roshini Sanah Jaiswal, Promoter and Chief Restructuring Officer of Jagatjit Industries, the company will supply ethanol to oil marketing companies. Once operational, ethanol will account for 20 percent of the company's total revenues in 2024–2025 and 25 percent in 2025–2026.
