Diageo’s CEO passed away

Diageo’s CEO, Sir Ivan Menezes, has passed away at the age of 63, following a brief illness. After serving as CEO for 10 years, Menezes intended to retire from the company on 31st June 2023.

Over the course of his 25-year tenure with Diageo, he had a range of responsibilities. He joined Diageo when it was founded in 1997, as the result of a merger.

In 1998, he worked as Worldwide Marketing Director for UDV and contributed to the creation of Johnnie Walker's globally renowned Keep Walking advertising campaign.

Debra Crew was named as Diageo's acting CEO earlier this week as Menezes recovered from an urgent stomach ulcer operation.
