UP to come up with more liquor outlets

The Uttar Pradesh government intends to open 449 more liquor stores in the upcoming weeks to substantially increase the selling of alcohol in the state.

The state would have close to 30,000 retail liquor vends if the most recent step of allocating IMFL, beer, and model stores in UP takes place through online lottery on June 20th. The excise department of UP anticipates that retail liquor licence fees will greatly increase liquor revenues in the state.

According to the officials, the decision to build 449 new stores was made as a result of the increased urbanisation and proliferation of new colonies. As a result, new liquor outlets will be opening in 55 of the state's 75 districts.

Due to the rapid growth of urban bounds, Lucknow, Bahraich, Mau, Unnao, Sultanpur, Kanpur, and Ayodhya would all have 15 to 23 new liquor vends. According to officials, provisions were made in the policy to build up 2 percent more liquor shops than that of the previous year in order to fulfil the increased demand.
