Liquor to become costlier in Karnataka

Beer and other alcoholic beverages will become costlier in Karnataka as the state government has come up with a proposal to increase additional excise duty in the budget for 2023-24.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is in charge of the finance portfolio, suggested raising the existing rates of the duty on IMFL by 20 percent across all 18 slabs. Additionally, he has suggested raising the duty on beer from 175 percent to 185 percent.
