Kerala reverses decision to open 250 new liquor outlets

Kerala government has reversed its decisions to renew hotel bar licences and open 250 retail liquor stores prior to revising their classification.

Although the policy allows for the establishment of 559 IMFL retail outlets in the state, only 309 of these are now operational.

The Kerala government’s plan to add 250 more liquor stores after campaigning on limiting access to alcohol has come under fire.
