MP releases Mahua wine

Mahua wine is now available in Madhya Pradesh and it will be promoted by the government in other states too.

Mahua wine, branded as ‘Mond,’ has been introduced in 180 ml and 750 ml bottles, with prices set by the government at Rs. 200 and Rs. 800, respectively.

It will be sold at wine shops rather than at liquor stores and the product has already been provided to the bars of the state tourism company. The government won't have any control on the peg price of Mahua wine in bars.

The government notified the MP 'heritage liquor' rules in January of this year. For a few months, MP Tourism Corporation (MPTC)’s bars served Mahua spirits samples in order to get customer feedback.

Mahua liquor is produced locally as a means of promoting tribal empowerment.
