The spirits category is predicted to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9 percent in the upcoming five years leading up to 2027, according to the data from IWSR Drinks Market Analysis.

Global Travel Retail's (GTR)’s volume of spirits sales increased by 67 percent last year, with tequila being the only alcobev category which reached pre-pandemic level in terms of volume.

According to IWSR, the volume of agave spirits increased by 95 percent last year, and they are projected to grow at a 9 percent CAGR from 2022 to 2027.

IWSR observes that the volume of whisky sales in GTR increased by 77 percent last year, and is predicted to rise by 16 percent in 2023. In the five years leading up to 2027, the whisky industry is anticipated to grow by 9 percent.

Irish whisky saw a 66 percent increase in 2022, Scotch saw a 77 percent increase, and US whisky saw a 93 percent increase.

Rum is anticipated to expand by 7 percent during the following five years, compared to a 5 percent growth rate for gin (CAGR 2022-2027), observes IWSR’s survey.

Vodka's growth is expected to increase by 6 percent (CAGR 2022-2027) after experiencing an escalation of 68 percent last year.

In GTR, in the previous year the ready-to-drink category saw a 60 percent increase, and for the following five years, an increase of 11 percent in the category is anticipated.
