WB stops supporting country spirits

West Bengal government has decided that they will no longer support country spirits from 15th September. Country spirits will no longer be sold by the state excise agency of West Bengal.

According to an excise circular on the discontinuation of country spirit, “Given the policy of ‘less harm per ml’ of liquor, the existing country spirit players were advised to launch products under 25/50-degree under IML. In case of country spirit, there should not be any stock at any bottling plant or any depot/warehouse of any distributor/wholesaler after September 14 as no such product can be invoiced or sold by any manufacturer or bottler or distributor or wholesaler from September 15.”

Additionally, starting from 15th September, the price of India-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in West Bengal is projected to increase by 7 percent to 8 percent. A smaller adjustment will be made to the price of beer in the state as well.
