U-turn to open home mini bar in Uttarakhand

The recently introduced provision of allowing people to obtain the licence for operating mini bars in Uttarakhand has been revoked by the state government, pending further rulings. The new law was fiercely opposed and criticised by many.

"On the aforementioned subject, Rule 13.11 of the Uttarakhand Excise Policy Rules 2023 is postponed until further orders." Commissioner of Excise of Uttarkhand, Hari Chand Semwal wrote a letter to all district excise officers further stating, "Make sure to take necessary action accordingly."

It is believed that the revoking of the decision was made in response to a social media commotion.
