Delhi HC denies bail to Sameer Mahendru

Liquor businessman and owner of Indospirit, Sameer Mahendru has been denied bail by Delhi High Court. He has been jailed in a money laundering case in connection with the alleged Delhi excise policy scam. His one of the grounds for seeking bail was his bad medical condition.

The court made the observation that his right to healthcare cannot be the reason to overshadow the pressing need to investigate fairly. It stated that Mahendru was not suffering from any life-threatening condition or sickness or infirmity which involved danger to his life and for which treatment could not be given to him in jail.

Mahendru was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on September 28, 2022, in the money laundering case.
