Consumers of Scotch whisky are educated, says MP High Court

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has observed that the consumers of Scotch whisky were educated and that they belonged to an affluent class of society. The court pointed this out while rejecting Pernod Ricard's appeal to prevent an Indore-based company,JK Enterprises from manufacturing beverages under the 'London Pride' mark.

In its plea, global alcobev leader Pernod Ricard has accused Indore-based company of using the ‘London Pride’ mark to deceive its customers. On the matter, the MPHC stated that consumers of Scotch whisky were educated and that they belonged to an affluent class of society. They can easily distinguish between bottles of two different brands, the court said.

As per a report, the applicant has requested the court for a temporary injunction against JK Enterprises, claiming they have violated the 'Blenders Pride' trademark and the appearance of the 'Imperial Blue' bottle.
