Gujarat issues guidelines on liquor consumption in GIFT City

The Gujarat government has issued guidelines for alcoholic beverage consumption in the Gujarat International Finance Tech (GIFT) City. Restricted to individuals aged 21 and older, the guidelines require permits costing Rs 1,000 per year. Liquor access permits are valid for two years and can be renewed, while temporary permits are limited to a day.

Alcohol consumption is confined to specific premises within GIFT City, necessitating outlets within GIFT City to obtain an FL3 license with an initial validity of one to five years, subject to an annual fee of Rs 1 lakh and a security deposit of Rs 2 lakh. Health liquor permits, visitor permits, and tourist permits are not allowed to access alcoholic beverages in GIFT City. In the GIFT City, the permission to consume alcoholic beverages is exclusively reserved for GIFT City employees, officials, and visitors.

To ensure compliance, outlets with GIFT City must maintain detailed liquor stock records, and the entire facility must be under CCTV surveillance, with records retained for three months. These measures reflect the Gujarat government's commitment to a controlled and secured approach to alcoholic beverages consumption in GIFT City.
