HC restricts sale of liquor label named Peace Maker

The Delhi High Court has restricted a Karnataka-based manufacturer named Hermes Distillery from selling whisky and other alcobev products under the Peace Maker label. Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) Pvt Ltd filed the case against Hermes Distillery alleging that the look and feel of the label of the Peace Maker whisky and other alcobev products of the company were identical to its brand Officer's Choice.

The court observed that the defendant indulged in smart copying. As per a report, the court further directed the Hermes Distillery to file an account of sales of the Peace Maker whisky by means of an affidavit, from its launch till date.
