Excise duty hike in alco-beverages in Karnataka

Karnataka’s Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a hike in the excise duty on alcohol in his budget speech at the state assembly. This is the second time in seven months that the state government of Karnataka has opted to raise duty on beer. This move is expected to make liquor prices costlier in Karnataka.

The CM in his budget speech also informed that 50 cafe hotels, run entirely by women, would be set up across the state at a cost of Rs 7.5 crore. Service of local food will be the priority at these cafes.
